Just a reminder members that if you wish to pay your subscriptions off in instalments, SHGC now offers a payment option through Pay As You Golf.
This allows you to choose from either a fortnightly or monthly payment option. The facility also allows members to spread out their joining fees and annual levies.
This is a low cost and stress free payment alternative and you can choose to pay your instalments by direct debit or credit card.
One simple registration form and no invasive credit assessment process.

Felicity and Rob Percival went shopping on Friday 14 December 2018 for groceries to donate to Nowra Family Services. They spent $402, most of which came from their cupcake sales. Money from cupcake sales is put aside each time to provide this service at the end of the year.
The Vets golf club recently agreed to allow the cupcakes to be put on sale at each monthly shotgun start event. Hopefully this will generate additional cupcake sales, enabling Felicity and Rob to deliver considerably more groceries to Nowra Family Services each year.
The Women’s Committee thank everyone for their support and hope you continue to enjoy the cupcakes over the next twelve months.
The Women’s Golf Club presentation day was held on Tuesday 11 December 2018. Peta Merchant was awarded Women’s Club Champion for 2018. Tara Mackie is Women’s Club Champion runner up. The full suite of awards presented on the presentation day are listed in the Results section within the Golf tab above.
The Monthly Medal and Medal of Medals 2018 will be contested on Saturday 8 December. The contenders for the Medal of Medals 2018 are listed on the club’s score board, see the photograph above.
The Heads Golf Club is located just 2 hours south of Sydney in the beach side town of Shoalhaven Heads The quaint timber clad club house boasts large sun drenched verandas overlooking the manicured 18th green. Here you can entertain your guests whilst taking in the fresh sea breeze and listen to the sound of the Pacific Ocean meeting the east coast.
The club house is a multi-purpose open plan area that enjoys a carpeted floor as well as a dance floor for twisting the night away.
The club house offers the option of a fully catered kitchen, a generously stocked bar and separate bathrooms. It can hold 90 people in a formal dinner seating making it the perfect venue for any professional corporate event, wedding, family gathering or just a relaxed social get together.

The Vets Presentation Day was held on Thursday 29 November. The presentation commenced with Certificates of Appreciation being presented to Vincentia school pupils and Life Membership being awarded to Lindsay Wellard (club Patron). The following golf competition awards were presented:

The Women’s VW Scramble which is a 4 person Ambrose event was held on Monday 26 November and was won by the Callala team of Audrey Mansfield, Aoauli Carrett, M. Mills and Myrna Barnes with a team score of 59.75 strokes. There were nine teams competing in the scramble. The Shoalhaven Heads ladies have represented our club well by taking out both second and third places. The full results may be seen opposite under “Golf” / “Results”.
The Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre charity day is a very important day in our golf calendar. We are all touched in some way by cancer which is a hideous disease. The golf club puts a lot of effort into making this charity day as successful as possible.
We thank everyone for participating in the event. We have had a wonderful turn-up this year with player numbers surpassing previous years. The auction alone, which is part of the fun raised $1,675. We thank all participants and sponsors for their generous donations which will go towards buying the very much needed medical equipment for the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre. The total amount raised this year is just over $12,000.
The Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre expressed how much they appreciate our donation. Last year’s donation went towards a much-needed medical grade oven. The oven is used for moulding head and neck masks, for head and neck cancer patients to ware during radiation treatment.
The hole-in-one Holden car prize was very close to being won this year. Bob Bishop hit the flag but finished a metre or two away. Garry DeBanke’s tee shot rolled past the hole missing it by only a few millimetres which gave Blanch Voysey, the hole-in-one observer, heart flutters. However, the nearest the pin was taken out by Mark Skinner, congratulations Mark and commiserations for not winning the car.
The golf game was a two-person Ambrose. The overall winners are Nicola Ryan (31) and Phil Ryan (9) from Links Shell Cove with a net 59 strokes. The full results for the charity day are shown on our website under the “Golf” / “Results” section.
The Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre day is almost fully booked. We have about four tee slots open for those who have not already booked. It will be a big exciting day with many prizes on offer.

We had another great Melbourne Cup day at Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club. The event kicked off at 9:00am with 43 players competing in a Four Person Hart Ball Ambrose. The team of Di Knoll, Vicki Askew, Andrew Housden and Tara Mackie took out first prize with a net 59.5 strokes.
The game was quite competitive with the first four places coming within three strokes of each other. Refer to the results section above for the full golf results.
Prior to watching the Melbourne Cup, we relaxed over a lovely lunch which was catered by the Heads Cafe.
