Everyone is invited to participate in the Melbourne Cup golf day on Tuesday 5 November 2019. The day should be loads of fun, both on the golf course and during lunch in the golf club.
The event will commence at 9:00am with a 4 Person Hartball Ambrose game of golf. There will be prizes awarded to the following three team categories:
* Women only;
* Men only; and
On conclusion of the golf game, lunch will be served and Melbourne Cup sweeps will be sold through out the day.
The $35 entry fee includes the game of golf and lunch. Please advise any dietary requirements. Booking may be made online through the login portal above, the club house computer kiosk or Pro-shop.

The new Veterans’ Club Committee which was voted in today at the 2019 Annual General Meeting are:

The club’s new caterer, Louise Collings commenced on Monday 11 September 2019. Louise brings more than 20 years of professional catering experience to our club. Her Heads Kiosk is renowned for its quality food and friendly service.
Louise will continue to manage the Heads Kiosk in conjunction with the club’s café which she has named “Birdies by the Sea”. Her vision of Birdies by the Sea is that it will not only attract more golfers to our club, it will also attract residents and visitors from The Heads village and neighbouring towns.
Birdies by the Sea will be opened for:
- Breakfast between 6:30 am and 10:30 am Wednesday to Sunday;
- Lunch between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm Tuesday to Sunday;
- Dinner between 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm when advertised.
The first Friday night dinner will be held on 11 October. The menu will include a selection of seafood dishes, chicken schnitzel and salads. Please note that booking is essential.
While the menu will start off small it is by no means limited in choice. There is a wide range of sandwiches, Wraps, Rolls, salads, homemade pies and sausage rolls for example. Special dishes will make grand appearances such as:
Roast Mushroom and Asparagus with baby spinach, feta served on toasted sourdough with poached egg and truffle oil; or
Chicken and Lentil Burger with beetroot, carrot, lettuce, hommus and sweet chilli sauce on a toasted wholemeal bun.
Espresso coffee made by a barista is available with homemade scones, muffins, cakes and slices.
Ian Paynter won B Grade in the Eden Open Tournament on the weekend of 14th and 15th Sepember. The tournament was held over two days. Ian played consistently for the two rounds, finishing with a net 68 on both days. Congratulations Ian and thank you for giving our club a wrap during your victory speech.
The Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club is holding an annual charity golf day, in support of Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre, on Friday 25 October. The event is an open 2 Person Medley Ambrose which will commence with an 8:30 am shotgun start.
This event has been held at The Heads Golf Club for several years now and has proven to be well attended with everyone having lots of fun. There are also lots of prizes to be won which include:
- Titleist golf bags for the winners;
- Hyundai Kona for a hole-in-one;
- Many nearest the pin and longest drive prizes; and
- A great raffle prize.
The entry fee is $40 per player which includes lunch. All proceeds will go to Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre at Shoalhaven Hospital.

The channel 7 episode of Sydney Weekender featuring our club and Bangalay Luxury Villas will be shown on Sunday 29th September at 5.30 pm.
Our new caterer, Louise Collings who also runs the Shoalhaven Heads Kiosk, started this week. Louise’s initial whiteboard menu is shown in the photo. The menu will continue to grow with many more delightful choices to come.
I thoroughly enjoyed a toasted Feta, Grilled Veg and Pesto on Turkish bread for lunch today. Other golfers I spoke to were also extremely happy with their lunch choice.
Louise has named the café “Birdies by the Sea” and is currently designing a logo. We will keep you informed with more information and photos of the food, opening hours etc.
Louise and Gail Bateman are off to a worm welcoming start which makes your dining experience that much more enjoyable. Please make yourself known to Louise and welcome her into our club, as I feel sure you have already done so with Gail.

The annual course renovation works were undertaken today with the helping hand of 26 volunteers. We are so grateful at Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club to have so many members who willingly pitch in when the need arises. The club’s board and green’s staff thank the volunteers for their help today.
