The lockdown for Regional NSW has been extended until at least 28th August. As a consequence of this all timesheets for next week have been deleted and the new (two person) timesheets will go live from tonight at 6pm.
All future timesheets will not be uploaded until such time as we find out when, or if, the restrictions will be lifted. We will keep you advised as soon as we know.
Also, please note that the golf course and the Pro-shop will be closed on Mondays until further notice.
This coming Sunday’s (22nd) Three-Way Challenge and the following Sunday’s (29th) Keno Let’s Play Mixed Ambrose (two person) qualifying event, will both go ahead subject to being played under strict covid regulations and the Club’s Covid Plan.
The timesheets for the Keno event will also go live tonight.

After careful consideration of the current lockdown regulations the golf club will operate as follows, until the lockdown is lifted for Regional NSW and/or more regulations are implemented, at which time we will inform the members of any further changes.
Advice from Golf NSW states you can travel within your LGA OR travel into a neighbouring LGA if it’s within 5km of your home for exercise.
The club will recommence competitions from this Tuesday (17th August).
With the restricted timeslots the Club will be open to play for those members who reside within the Shoalhaven LGA.
Play will be conducted in groups of no more than TWO players per group (unless they are from the same household) and only under the club’s COVID-safe plan.
The club will have a ‘one player per cart’ rule until further notice.
New timesheets will be published on the Club’s online booking system from tonight at 6pm. Please note that all current timesheets will be removed for the week, and you will need to book again for this week. Future weeks’ bookings will remain unless the lockdown is extended.
Members are advised to turn up no more than 15 minutes prior to tee off time and to leave immediately after their game has concluded.
The Pro shop will be open via the side window to process competition payments. Tap and go is the preferred payment option. It will also be able to sell golf items using click and collect and takeaway via the window or front door.
The clubhouse will be closed outside of competition hours.
Social golf, as an exercise, will be allowed subject to only two players per group and that the golfers comply with the social distancing requirements.
Social players must book in at the Pro shop and provide their contact details before they commence play. Normal clubhouse operations will be temporarily closed apart from takeaway purchases for hot drinks and cold drinks, bottles and cans only, and for snack foods including sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls, hamburgers, hot chips.
Members can enter the Clubhouse to use the toilet amenities. Also, to order and purchase takeaway drink and foods. Tap and go is the preferred payment option. When you enter the Clubhouse, you must ensure you use QR codes to sign in, that you are wearing your mask, sanitize and social distance.
Please note that takeaways are not to be consumed at the BBQ tables outside the clubhouse. Takeaways are just that and should be consumed away from the clubhouse.

During July and now into August, as the Covid pandemic spread throughout Greater Sydney and nearby LGAs, the NSW Government regulations have been constantly changing in an attempt to control the threat. To this end our Club needs to immediately update its clubhouse check-in requirements.
Historically, being booked in for a competitive round of golf has meant that the club can provide tracking information, via your GA number and club records, should it be required to do so by the government. However that is no longer legally acceptable to gain entry into the clubhouse.
To enter the clubhouse at any time, for any reason, e.g. to use the toilets, to get takeaway food and drink, even just to enter your scorecard, as well as to sit down and have a drink and a bite to eat, you must use the QR code to sign in. Failure to do so carries a $1,000 fine for the individual and a maximum fine of up to $55,000 for the club for allowing such a breach of orders made under the Public Health Act 2010.
If you do not have a phone capable of using the Service NSW COVID Safe Check-In QR Code, then you must sign in using the form (“Record of Visitors at Premises”) at the Covid Marshalls’ table.
Similarly, you must properly wear a suitable mask when entering the clubhouse, at any time, and continue to always wear it, unless you are sitting down to eat or drink. Failure to do so may result in a $500 fine for you and another one for the Club.
These are NSW Government requirements, not the Club’s but we are required to ensure their adherence and hence it is mandatory that all members and visitors comply.
If you used the QR code, or the “Visitors” form to sign in before you commenced your round of golf that is sufficient to enter the clubhouse. Please ensure you show the Covid Marshall (if one present*) the green tick or indicate where on the form you had completed, to signify you have complied. So make sure you carry your phone when you enter the clubhouse.
When you QR Code sign in at the Covid Marshall’s table, please show the Covid Marshall (if one present*) the green tick signifying that it has been registered.
Please assist our Covid Marshall volunteers with this requirement. Signing in for a quick dash in and out of the club may seem a ridiculous obligation, but that short time may be enough to pick up the virus or bring it into the club, and the authorities will not be able to track you quickly and prevent the potential spread.
*On the subject of keeping the club safe in these trying times I have had just six regular volunteers for Covid Marshall duties. This is why there are times when there is no one on duty. I just do not have anyone available for those times. There are more volunteers digging out the Parramatta grass! If there is anyone else willing to help as a Covid Marshall, please let me know. Dear Fellow Members
There appears to be varying opinions among members as to what can or cannot happen regarding playing golf at our Club in these current circumstances.
Please see above the map that details the problem zone we are all contending with. Please note this area of concern includes Wollongong and Shellharbour.
In order to keep our members as safe as we are able, we have a Covid Safe Plan which requests that any members who travel into this zone above go into 14 days quarantine at home when returning from this RED area and preferably get a negative covid test before returning to the club. This seems a good idea for your own safety and your fellow members.
Please accept this is an attempt to keep all members safe and we cannot make exceptions for any individual’s particular circumstances.
We will not allow golfers who travel from the RED zone in the map to play golf at our club until this current lockdown is over. Using exercise as a reason for traveling outside this zone to play golf is not acceptable to our club.
The safety of our members is paramount. We will review the situation as and when our NSW Government and Golf NSW make changes.

Dear Fellow Members
For the next period leading up to midnight on the 9th July 2021 the golf course will be MEMBERS ONLY and visiting golfers who reside in the general area south of Shellharbour. These decisions are to keep members as safe as we are able given the seriousness of the recent new Covid strain outbreaks, and will be subject to any changes the NSW Government make before the above date.
Anyone wishing to visit the club from Greater Sydney, Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong, Shellharbour will be advised they cannot attend the club.
This is how things will work until midnight on the 9th July 2021.
If you have attended any of the above areas in the last week can you please get tested and not attend the club unless your test is NEGATIVE.
If you feel unwell or have flu like symptoms please do not attend the club and we reccommend you get tested at your nearest Covid Testing Centre.
Enter the Club ONLY from the FRONT ENTRANCE Do NOT use the rear ramped entrance. The rear area is for EXIT ONLY.
Wear a mask while INDOORS at the club The Club will have doors and windows open to improve fresh air circulation within the Club House.
ALL golfers must use the QR SCANNER at the club.This QR Scanner will be available to use in the area within the Pro Shop and area approaching the Pro Shop. If you do not have a smart phone or for some reason you can’t get a signal at the club, please ensure you register yourself with Full Name and Contact Phone Number on our manual system within the Pro Shop.
AS FAR AS NSW HEALTH ARE CONCERNED THIS IS ONE OF THE MAIN PRIORITIES OF THE COVID SAFE PLAN.
- BAR, CAFE & WC AREAS.
a. Please do not crowd the bar or WC areas, our cafe will offer sandwiches sausage rolls, pies and takeaway coffee along with takeaway food such as bacon & egg rolls & burgers.
b. You must sit at a table to enjoy your drink/food within the clubhouse. Please do not rearrange the table layouts as provided in the club house or balcony. Encourage others to comply in a friendly manner.
c. Please return your used glasses, bottles and plates to the appointed area at the bar and replace your chairs in the position you found them leaving your tables clean and tidy for the next user. Cleaning materials are at the bar and can be requested when needed. Going the extra mile would be so much appreciated.
d. Do not share drinks and food.
- GOLF For the time being there are no recommended changes to the playing of golf apart from playing restrictions mentioned above.
a. Please use EFTPOS for payment in Pro Shop, Bar or Cafe areas. We are being encouraged to use less cash wherever possible to eliminate handling. In particular COINS can create dirty hands and the bar staff are having to sanitise their hands frequently.

Seating arrangements were limited with booking imperative, and all seating was laid out to keep 1.5m metre social distancing.
President Rob Russell opened the meeting and thanked everyone for attending.
Before the meeting formally started, Rob Russell asked everyone to stand and reflect in silence giving thought to the sad recent passing of member and great stalwart of the club Colin Waller who will be sadly missed at the Club and in the Shoalhaven business community in general.
All attendees had been provided with a brochure covering the presentation content. Rob Russell presented his report using the content of the brochure as the basis for his talk using a projected power point presentation. The activities of 2020 and the plans for 2021 were the highlights of the presentation with a huge thank you to the volunteer base of the Club, without whom the club could not function. There were special thanks to various individuals within the Club for their hard work.
Marilyn Schott our Treasurer took to the floor and ran through her report on 2020. Marilyn spoke about the financial results of 2020 which she felt were excellent given the struggle with Covid. Government assistance had helped, early on, with Jobkeeper and PAYG rebates. Lack of access to the club for members until early October 2020 had affected bar and food sales, but overall, the figures showed improved cash holdings for the Club. Marilyn explained where particular expenditure had occurred throughout the year on the course and in the Clubhouse. Marilyn thanked a number of people who had helped her throughout 2020 and pointed out that we were now a 1 million dollar turnover club, which is quite a growth and makes the Club a serious business.
Rob Russell returned to the floor and explained the changes to Directors and why there was no need for voting.
Alan Davies, Robert Willdig, Connie Parrish and John Clawley had resigned.
John Clawley had been nominated for Honorary Club Secretary, and as the sole nominee, was duly appointed. Alan Davies will continue to deal with Club Memberships and assist with WHS matters in a non-Board capacity.
John Ditton, Ed Stauber and Peter McFadden had all been nominated to fill the Board vacancies and they all bring long careers in business management to the Board and were duly appointed. All 3 were asked to stand so all attendees would be aware of who all 3 were.
Rob Russell asked David Cawthorn to address the meeting in relation to proposing David Lamb becoming an Honorary Life Member of the club. The proposal had been seconded by Ian King who unfortunately was unable to attend the meeting. David Cawthorn gave everyone a brief history of David Lamb’s work at the club and given David Lamb was member number 1 showed he had been there from day one. It was put to the floor the proposal be accepted and asked for the floor to accept the nomination. There was a unanimous acceptance by all present. David Lamb was now, therefore, an Honorary Life Member of Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club he had helped set up in 1981, followed by years of initial efforts through to the club becoming an18 hole golf club in 2012.
Rob Russell asked were there any questions from the floor.
• John Cummins raised his concerns about the condition of some of the bunkers during play now that the rakes have been returned to use. Rob Russell suggested the Club Captain might address the matter of raking bunkers in his next Club Captain’s report.
• Bob Bishop asked was the introduction of the new sand in the bunkers to continue on a regular basis and Rob Russell confirmed that was the plan.
Rob Russell thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting.

Better late than never, our annual Open tournament sponsored by the good folk at Macey Insurance was held last weekend. Usually this event is held in the last week of May however due to Covid we had to delay until the slightly windier month of November which caused a few headaches for some players.
Once again we must say a big thankyou to Brendan Goddard and the Team at Macey Insurance. Macey’s has been the naming sponsor of this event since its inception in 2012 and we again thank them for their continued support. Whilst we are thanking sponsors, the team at Titleist have also been on board as prize suppliers and sponsors since the event’s inception and we also thank them for their efforts.
Onto the players of the day and we had 117 people from many clubs in and around the district. We also had a group of 28 players from our reciprocal club The Coast in Little Bay and to all of the guys who travelled to our course we thank you for your efforts.
Scoring was tough on the day and in the scratch event the overall winner with a great score of 70 was Troy Monie from Shoalhaven Ex Services Golf Club. Troy edged out last years winner Colin Mitchell from Links Shell Cove by a shot which was agonising for Colin as he made a disappointing double bogey 7 on the last hole ! The A grade Scratch winner was Nathan Whiteman from Links Shell Cove with a 74 whilst Anthony Elwaw from Gerringong took out B Grade with 85 and Brett Herron from the Heads won C grade with 94.
Runner up A grade scratch with a score of 75 was Alan Davison from the Links Shell Cove. In B grade it was Charlie Swyer from the Heads with 87 and Warren Hogan from the Coast was runner up in C Grade on a countback after shooting 98.
Onto the Net events and the Overall winner with a score of 67 was Doug Turnball from the Coast. He edged out his fellow club member Dominic Romeo by a shot. The A Grade Net winner was Bruce Brownlow from Kiama with a score of 68. In B Grade it was Andrew King from the Coast with a score of 68 on a countback and in C Grade it was Bill Whittlam from the Coast with a score of 73.
The Net runner ups were in A grade Adrian Smith from Shoalhaven Ex Servos scoring 69. In B grade it was Keith Pepper from the Heads scoring 74 whilst Sergio Pertillo from Strathfield took the prize in C grade with a score of 76.

Hello everyone, well we’ve all waited for this day to arrive and The Board is pleased to confirm we will open the clubhouse this Saturday 3rd October 2020.
In order for this to continue we still require more members to volunteer to help, if you are able to assist then can you email Rob Russell on email@example.com or call him on 0427318079 ………… thank you.
However, due to COVID 19, there are rules we have to follow to keep us all safe and also avoid penalties to your Club for us getting things wrong.
Here is a list of what you will be asked to do and understand in order to use the club bar and food facilities.
There will be a Covid Marshall on a daily basis as we currently do. You must follow the instructions as they are part of our approved opening rules.
Do NOT attend the club for any reason if you feel unwell and please attend the nearest Covid testing clinic in your residential area. This is the advice from NSW HEALTH.
We have set up the internal area of the clubhouse for 32 patrons. You MUST stay seated other than to collect your drink from the bar or collect food from the cafe area. Please use PAYWAVE wherever possible to avoid handling of cash.
Do NOT mingle around the bar area or food area, obtain your personal drink or food then be seated.
Restrict your time at the tables to no more than an hour as fellow golfers will want to use the facility and allows time to clean down the tables/chairs to allow another group to use the room.
Do NOT move any of the chairs and or tables from the position set out in the club.
When not sat at the table ensure you social distance 1.5 metres.
Please use the hand sanitiser provided on entry to the club and when leaving.
Access the club from the entrance adjacent to the pro shop at all times, you CANNOT use the rear doors for access.
If you wish to use the balcony please access via the rear corner door as indicated by the Covid Marshall of the day. The aluminium fire door is NOT to be used.
Regarding food, DO NOT share whatever you have purchased.
We know there are a lot of do’s and don’ts but please understand we have to follow these rules in order to remain open and also remain Covid Safe Club approved by NSW Government.
COVID 19 NEW SIGNING IN PROCEDURES WE NOW NEED TO KEEP A DIGITAL RECORD OF ALL MEMBERS WHO ATTEND THE CLUB AND ALL VISITORS/GUESTS ON A DAILY BASIS.
To meet the standards you need to use the camera on your smartphone and hover it over the QR Code on the desk in the pro shop or on the lectern outside the pro shop. Your camera will automatically recognise the scanner code and automatically prompt you to click on a link “mgl.lo” shown at the top of the screen. You click on that link and answer a few short questions.
The sheet offers you to open your web browser and go to a website link Follow the instructions on the instruction sheet
If you do not have a smart phone you can TEXT INSTEAD. Follow the instructions on the instruction sheet. This is the better option if your phone is not a smartphone.
This is NOT a one off exercise, you will need to do this every time you attend the club as the Covid 19 Rules state we must be able to provide a DAILY list of attendees.
