Greg and the Pro Shop Team
Pro Shop Staff
The Pro Shop team has a wealth of experience in the golf, hospitality and business sectors. This, combined with our long history in the Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club means we have all bases covered to assist our Members, Visitors and Guests in ensuring their experience at The Heads is a good one!
Club Professional Greg Collins
Greg has been a member of the Australia PGA since 2003 when he began a traineeship at the Longyard Golf Club in Tamworth. Upon completion of his traineeship he took a role as the Club Professional at Narrandera Golf Club for a period of 4 years.
In 2011 he joined Cec and Maureen Montgomery as the Club Professional at Shoalhaven Heads. After Cec and Maureen’s retirement in 2014, Greg, along with his wife Joanne took over as sole proprietors of the shop.
Continued study with the PGA means that Greg is up to date with product training especially with Titleist Footjoy of which he is an ambassador for the company. He is also a club fitter and stockist for Ping and Wilson.
Joanne has worked in the golf industry since 2011 when she and Greg joined the Montgomery’s as partners. Over the last few years, since the birth of their two kids Rory and Henry, Jo’s role has become increasingly administrative with most of her work completed off site. On the odd occasion Jo may be in the pro shop, however if you need to talk to anyone about accounts or paperwork then Jo is the person.
Cec has a history in banking, with more than 32 years’ experience in many roles across many towns in NSW. During his travels he has sat on many Golf Club boards and been Club Captain at 4 different clubs.
Cec and Maureen moved to the Heads in 1996 and became volunteers almost instantly. In 1997 he became Captain of Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club and upon the resignation of the then Professional Shane Cochran in 2004, Cec and Maureen took on the running of the golf Shop.
As the club grew, Cec and Maureen took on Jim Butt initially as a teaching pro and in 2007 Jim and Leonie joined the team in the shop itself. Jim and Leonie retired in 2011, paving the way for Greg and Jo.
In 2014 Cec and Maureen also decided to call it a day on their working lives. Upon retirement the Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club acknowledged the work he had done and as a result he was granted Life Membership of the club. Since their retirement Cec has remained as an active volunteer not only in the club itself - he is the clubs current Vice President, and you will also find him in the pro shop most weekends and often on a Monday.
Peta joined the pro shop team in March 2017 after a long stint in the hospitality industry. Peta is a very accomplished sportswoman who has played high levels of Tennis, Cricket and Hockey. Along with her achievements in other sports Peta is our current ladies Champion – a title she has held on 8 occasions, and also our current ladies course record holder! You will find Peta in the pro shop waiting to assist you on most weekdays.
Jim has been a member of the PGA for over 50 years, he has worked at many clubs in NSW and the ACT including Royal Sydney, and his knowledge of the industry and the Golf Swing is second to none. Upon retirement from the Pro Shop in 2011 Jim has continued assisting Greg with some club repair work and most of the teaching at the club.
